SUNDAY: Commissioner Rebeca Sosa invites community to Adopt-a-Tree

(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL) – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa invites the community to the final Adopt-a-Tree event of 2015 taking place this Sunday, October 4th at A,D. Barnes Park, 3401 SW 72 Avenue, Miami. The Miami-Dade County Division of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) will provide Sugar Apples, Jackfruit, Jaboticaba, Inkwood and Paradise tree for adoption.

“We want the community to come out and pick-up their free tree so that together we continue increasing our tree canopy and beautifying our neighborhoods,” said Commissioner Sosa. “Most importantly, we create a healthier environment by planting trees that remove carbon dioxide from the air and help alleviate flooding by absorbing excess rain water.”

Tree quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Miami-Dade single-family or duplex homeowners are eligible to receive 2 FREE trees per year, even if they have adopted trees in past years. Single-family homeowners have adopted more than 184,000 trees since the program's inception in 2001.
