Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa was appointed to the South Florida Regional Planning Council by Chairman Dennis C. Moss. The Council is a planning and public policy agency. Activities respond to statutory requirements as well as the needs of member units of local government.

Commissioner Rebeca Sosa presented former Polish President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Lech Walesa with a Key to the County at a luncheon for the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba.

Commissioner Sosa and Neighbors of Schenley Park unveiled this year’s official poster of the Sixth Annual Art at Schenley Park Festival, by local artist Dania Sierra. The poster unveiling is the official kick-off to the countdown to the Sixth Annual Art at Schenley Park Festival, which will feature 50 fine artists, craftspeople, foods and entertainment. 

At several recent Miami-Dade County Commission meetings, Commissioner Sosa supported legislation to continue the County’s Community Periodical Advertising Program. The program was created in 1993 to ensure that residents who could not afford mainstream newspapers would also be able to learn of County meetings and events via advertisements in free community newspapers.

In an effort to assist all seniors in Miami-Dade County, Commissioner Rebeca Sosa authored a resolution urging the U.S. Congress to pass legislation addressing the adverse effects of no Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for next year, coupled with likely increases in Medicare Part B premiums.

In an effort to become a more sustainable community, go green and save taxpayers money, Commissioner Sosa is proud to  launch the District 6 newsletter in electronic format.

Miami-Dade County residents can now get in touch with another of their government representatives in a new way. Commissioner Rebeca Sosa has launched her own Facebook page. Anyone with their own Facebook account can locate her page by searching for “Commissioner Rebeca Sosa.” The page will regularly post local issues of which the commissioner is involved.
