(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- "I am pleased with today's Public Service Commission's (PSC) decision in giving Florida's electric customers a big break by cutting, in half, the 16 percent increase that Florida Power & Light had been asking for as compensation for its fuel charges.
However, I am steadfast and committed in expressing my concern over any future rate increase during the current national economic situation we are facing.
I will continue expressing opposition to the PSC in avoiding any future rate increases. It is our responsibility, as elected officials, to look after the well-fare of our residents who are being forced to further adjust their increasingly shrinking budgets. This reduction will allow residents to avoid making choices between food and electricity."
