Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa was presented with the Government & Law award during the 21st Annual In the Company of Women Award Ceremony held on the evening of Wednesday, March 4th at the Biltmore Hotel.  Jack Kardys, Director of the Miami-Dade Parks & Recreation Department, and Mrs. Robin Reiter presented the Commissioner with the prestigious accolade for her proven leadership, creativity and vision in addressing community issues in Miami-Dade County. 

The event recognized ten (10) local women from various disciplines for their long-standing contributions to the citizens of Miami-Dade County.

For 21 years, Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation has been honoring local women for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the citizens of Miami-Dade County.  Women from various professions will be honored in the following categories:  Arts & Entertainment, Business and Economics, Communications and Literature, Education and Research, Government and Law, Health and Human Services, Science and Technology, and Sports and Athletics.
