Commissioner Sosa Encourages Residents to Attend Chinese Drywall, Mortgage Restructuring & Community Meetings

Hosted by Chinese Drywall Recovery USA to Help Homeowners with Toxic Chinese Drywall www.ChineseDrywallRecoveryUSA.com

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa is encouraging residents to attend a series of community meetings being hosted by Chinese Drywall Recovery USA, LLC (CDR USA) to discuss helping homeowners negotiate a suspension of mortgage payments and a permanent principal reduction of their mortgage balance - so they will no longer be underwater on their loan.

During the December 1, 2009 Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Sosa urging Congress to pass legislation addressing imported Chinese Drywall; and urging the Florida Legislation to create and fund a State program to assist homeowners in addressing Chinese Drywall in Florida.

According to Chinese Drywall Recovery USA, LLC, Toxic Chinese drywall has been confirmed in several thousand homes to date and more affected homes are being identified as awareness of the problem grows. Post-Katrina, in 2006 alone, 500 million pounds of Chinese drywall was imported to the United States. National Public Radio and Fox News have reported that 100,000 or more homes may have been built with toxic Chinese drywall. The risk management consulting firm, Towers Watson, estimates that total damages could reach $25 billion.
