Commissioner Sosa, Chair of the County's Economic Development and Social Services Committee that oversees the Port, took part in the International Sister Port Signing Ceremony between PortMiami and the Port of Livorno, Italy. During the event, Commissioner Sosa spoke of the importance of linking the two ports and presented Port of Livorno President Giuliano Gallanti with a Key to the County as a welcoming gesture. The historic ceremony was attended the Mayor of Pontassieve, Honorable Marco Mairaghi and other local dignitaries and members of the Italian American community. The Port Livorno is one of the largest Italian seaports and one of the largest seaports in the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Northwestern part of Tuscany, Italy. PortMiami is the busiest cruise port in the world, handling more than 4 million passengers in 2011.
