Black History Month in Miami-Dade County


Miami-Dade County residents and visitors are encouraged to take part in a number of exciting events to celebrate Black History Month in February. The Miami-Dade County Black Affairs Advisory Board's Heritage Planning Committee along with various community based organizations have scheduled a number of events that pay homage to this year's national theme:  "At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: The Emancipation Proclamation & the March on Washington."

The following is a list of countywide events and activities commemorating Black History Month. Events with (*) are sponsored or co-sponsored by the Black Affairs Advisory Board's Heritage Planning Committee. For more information, please visit www.miamidade.gov/baab.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Concert is on Tuesday, February 5, 2013,  at 12:30 p.m.
Black Affairs Advisory Board's Black History Month exhibit featuring Kinad, Inc.'s African American Timeline and the celebration of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s Centennial  (1913-2013).
