The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners voted in favor of referendum to renovate SunLife Stadium

(Miami, FL) - Today, during a special meeting, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution in favor of a county-wide referendum where registered Miami-Dade voters will decide if the Miami Dolphins’ proposal to renovate SunLife Stadium should be approved. The votes in favor for the referendum included Commissioners Jordan, Monestime, Heyman, Barreiro, Sosa, Moss, Souto, Zapata, and Diaz for a 9-2. Details on the referendum are available in the county portal as resolutions 130682 and 130686.

The Countywide referendum will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Miami-Dade voters will decide if the Tourism Development Taxes shall be used to renovate SunLife Stadium with the approval of state legislature.

“The decision to renovate the Dolphins SunLife stadium should come from the people.  I trust the residents of Miami-Dade County to make the right choice,” said Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa. “I hope that each one of the residents take careful consideration of the proposal and make a conscious, educated decision for the future of our beautiful County.”
