Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa opens application period for Mom and Pop Small Business Grant


MIAMI-DADE - For the ninth straight year, Miami-Dade County Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa is assisting small businesses in District 6 through the Mom & Pop Small Business Grant program. Small business owners who are interested in applying for the grant may receive information on the qualifications and application procedures at one of the following mandatory workshops hosted by Chairwoman Sosa:

• Tuesday, February 11, 2014 , from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
West Miami Senior Center, 901 SW 62 Avenue, Miami, FL
• Thursday, February 13, 2014, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Miami Springs Recreational Center, 1401 Westward Drive, Miami Springs, FL

Applicants may be eligible to receive between $1,000 and $3,000 to help their business grow and become more successful. Beginning February 14, 2014, applications will be available for download at www.miamidade.gov/district06. Original applications must be submitted in person between February 18, 2014 and March 10, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the District 6 office located at 1000 SW 57 Avenue, Suite 201, West Miami, FL 33144.

The Mom & Pop Small Business Grant is administered by the Miami-Dade County Office of Community Economic Development and Neighbors and Neighbors Association (NANA). Since 1997, the grant has helped stimulate a partnership between the public and private sectors as well as build financially stable communities in urban areas. Each year, qualified small businesses benefit immensely from the grant’s financial and technical assistance.
