Commissioner Sosa wants County contractors to hire local
(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL) – Today, County Commissioners approved a resolution, sponsored by Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, requiring that businesses seeking contracts from Miami-Dade County provide proof of a local workforce and offices.
Miami-Dade County is one of the largest purchaser of goods and services in South Florida, and so this resolution aims to better assess how county contractors contribute to the economic strength and well-being of our community. Also, the resolution asks vendors to list all employees and branch offices or headquarters located within counties with which there exists a local business preference reciprocity.
“I want to make certain that our community receives the maximum benefit from any dollar spent by this county,” said Commissioner Rebeca Sosa. “We have all of the talent and expertise right here with the hardworking people of Miami-Dade County, and it is they who should be getting these jobs.”
