Commissioner Sosa moves to make Miami-Dade a resilient community
(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL) – Today, County Commissioners approved Commissioner Rebeca Sosa’s resolution, which directs the administration to apply for the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities Program with the support of the Miami Foundation.
The 100 Resilient Cities Program supports the adoption and incorporation of resilient cities around the world by helping them address physical, social and economic challenges. Moreover, cities in the 100 Resilient Cities network gain access to resources such as expert support for developing a robust resilience strategy, access to solutions, service providers and partners from the private, public and non-governmental organization sectors and membership in a global network of member cities that can assist one another.
Commissioner Rebeca Sosa’s resolution calls for the application to be submitted prior the November 24, 2015 deadline and include all incorporated and unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County.
“We are at an important crossroads in history, the steps we take today will determine the future of our community for many generations to come.” Said Commissioner Sosa. “I am confident that with the support of the Miami Foundation, we can put our best foot forward for this program and continue to work towards a more resilient Miami-Dade County.”
