Commissioner Sosa identifies funds to improve libraries in her district
Commissioner Sosa recently moved to secure more funding for the libraries that service her constituents. On July 6, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Sosa that allocated $550,000 towards improving the libraries within her commission district.
The improvements will be overseen by the Miami-Dade County Public Library System and will focus on interior and exterior capital renovations at the West Flagler Branch Library, and other District 6 libraries. The West Flagler Branch Library is located at 5050 W. Flagler Street and provides a variety of excellent services to the community, including mobile printing, informational events, a computer lab and of course hundreds of great books, DVD's and online resources for all ages. Visit the Miami-Dade County Public Library System website http://www.mdpls.org/branches/west-flagler-branch-library.html for more information on the services provided.
"Libraries have been a great asset to our community and provide a safe space for learning and research," said Commissioner Sosa. "We need to work to modernize our libraries to meet the evolving needs of our community. It brings me great joy to improve the libraries for the residents of my district and I can't wait to join them once the projects are completed."
