Street designation for inspirational South Miami Senior High teacher John R. Branstetter

MIAMI-DADE – On February 17, 2021, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Raquel Regalado sponsored a resolution which designated a portion of SW 68th Avenue, from SW 48th Street to SW 56th Street, as John R. Branstetter Way.

John R. Branstetter taught English, drama and debate at South Miami Senior High School for nearly 50 years. Mr. Branstetter touched countless lives and made a positive contribution to this community through his dedication to teaching and mentoring; and many of his former students became lifelong friends and credit him with influencing their lives in positive ways. A group of students, teachers and community members will join Commissioner Regalado to honor Mr. Branstetter, who passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer.
