Disability Employment Awareness Month Kick-Off

MIAMI-DADE – On Tuesday, October 4th, Commissioner Raquel Regalado and WOW Center Miami will kick off Disability Employment Awareness Month with an unveiling of WOW Center’s “Huemans of Miami” Art Installation at Government Center.

“As the mother of two neurodivergent teens and a passionate advocate for employment opportunities for our entire community, I'm honored to work with the WOW Center Miami and other partners to make Miami-Dade more inclusive for all," said Commissioner Raquel Regalado, who has sponsored several pieces of legislation advocating for disabilities employment and inclusion.

“We are honored to collaborate with Commissioner Regalado and present ‘Huemans of Miami’, an art installation featuring portraits of over 50 adults with disabilities," said Natalie Wong, executive director of WOW Center Miami, which was awarded $150,000 in this year's county budget that began October 1. "These portraits are those of interns, employees, coworkers, and hu(e)mans deserving employment. Together we can make Miami-Dade County workforce more inclusive. "
