(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Third grade students from Gulliver Academy took a small break from studying to join Commissioner Carlos A. Gimenez for story time at the Pinecrest Branch Library on Monday, April 20, 2009. The commissioner read to the students as part of National Library Week, an annual celebration of the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians that took place April 12-18 this year. However, the Miami-Dade Public Library System will celebrate this event through April 29.
“Our libraries offer numerous resources and programs for children, whether they need homework help, or just want something fun to read,” said Commissioner Gimenez. “National Library Week is a great reminder of how important this service is to promoting literacy and access to information for all of our residents.”
