(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Commissioner Lynda Bell will be sworn-in as Vice Chair of the Board of County Commissioners by Miami-Dade County Judge Gladys Perez on Friday, January 18, 2013.
In addition, during the course of the ceremony, Commissioner Rebeca Sosa will be sworn-in as the first Hispanic Chairwoman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, a long-time friend of the Chairwoman. The historic proceedings will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Stephen P. Clark Center located at 111 N.W. 1st Street, Miami.
Vice Chair Bell was elected in 2010 representing District 8, which encompasses a significant area of southeastern Miami-Dade County, including the municipalities of Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay and Homestead, with portions of Kendall an the Redlands. Since 2001, Chairwoman Sosa has served the residents of District 6, which includes areas in the City of Miami, Coral Gables, West Miami, Hialeah, and Miami Springs, as well as unincorporated zones. Chairwoman Sosa and Vice Chair Bell will be joined by their colleagues, friends, and residents as they are publicly installed to lead the Board of County Commissioners during a two-year term.
