Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava host Homes for All Pets Summit

Community leaders, concerned citizens and elected officials convene to find solutions to Miami-Dade’s animal well-being challenges


On Saturday, July 25th at 10:00 a.m., Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez will co-host the Homes for All Pets Summit at Terminal J in PortMiami. Animal rescue and protection groups, community leaders, concerned citizens and elected officials will discuss the following topics: progress we have made on animal welfare, the health and safety of animals in Miami-Dade and strategies to increase public awareness on this issue. The summit is co-sponsored by numerous municipalities throughout Miami-Dade. All municipalities and cities in the County have been invited to partner in this initiative to foster greater collaboration and communication. The complete list of sponsors is below.

Speakers include: Mayor Carlos Gimenez, Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava and Dr. Julie Levy, Director of Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Florida.

Participants will discuss topics in small group sessions throughout the day. The goal of the summit is to identify gaps in the animal welfare system and explore ways to close them through planning and awareness.
