Welcome to the District 8 website! I am honored to serve as your representative. District 8 encompasses Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay, Homestead, and unincorporated areas of South Dade including Redland, Falls, Princeton, parts of Naranja, Leisure City and parts of West Kendall.

Mom and Pop Small Business Grants
The Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program provides financial assistance and technical assistance to qualified small businesses. This year's grants will focus on the 3 Ps: people, planet and profit.
Applications can be obtained starting Feb. 19 through March 8, 2018.
A mandatory informational workshop explaining the requirements will take place at 6 p.m. March 8 at the South Dade Regional Library, 10750 SW 211th Street, in Miami.
Completed applications will be accepted starting March 9 through 4 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018.
Community Conversation: 87th Avenue Bridge Proposal
On November 28, Commissioner Levine Cava and the Village of Palmetto Bay hosted a Telephone Town Hall meeting to discuss traffic solutions. Below is a recording of the meeting and other relevant documents:

On August 30, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) traffic engineers presented their proposal to pursue a new bridge across the canal at Southwest 87th Avenue, north of 168th Street. Commissioner Cava requested that the Department put their plans on hold to give the community an opportunity to learn more and provide input. Here are DTPW's documents:

Commissioner Levine Cava celebrates three years on the Commission
Commissioner Levine Cava celebrated her third anniversary on the Commission on Nov. 12 by volunteering along with many other District 8 residents to restore a coastal wetland in Cutler Bay and released a report highlighting some key accomplishments during her third year in office.
Hurricane Irma after-report
Commissioner Levine Cava has released a report outlining the most common issues that South Dade residents encountered before, during and after Hurricane Irma, and including a number of recommendations to improve the County’s future disaster response.
Free training opportunity for nonprofit leaders
The District 8 Nonprofit Academy Cohort II provides nonprofits the tools and information they need to increase organizational capacity, meet performance standards, and build resilience during uncertain times. The Academy will feature hands-on, interactive workshops which will be facilitated by leading experts in the field. Classes begin Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Space is limited, enroll ASAP. Commissioner Cava recognized as Miami's Government Leader by Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava received a Salute to Miami’s Leaders Award in the category of Government from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
The Salute to Miami’s Leaders Awards program recognizes and honors Leadership Miami alumni who are community leaders that make Miami a stronger, more vibrant community.
South Dade: More to Explore
This summer, the Office of Commissioners Daniella Levine Cava and Dennis Moss held the second annual South Dade Solutions Summit. This year's gathering of local leaders focused on how to market our unique community. In conjunction with Commissioner Moss' office and Bruce Turkel of Turkel Brands, we unveiled our new official brand. South Dade: More to Explore captures the spirit of the region's diverse population, geography, cuisine and attractions.
A Fair Share for South Dade
Commissioner Levine Cava partnered with Commissioner Moss to host the inaugural South Dade Solutions Summit: business, community and government leaders outlined a success plan for South Dade to improve transportation, economic development and quality of life. Recommendations include the County buying local food and products, promotion of "farm to table" dining, transit investments and greater marketing of our region's unique assets. The plan will be our guiding document framing District 8's agenda over the next three years.
