Commissioner Sorenson Announces New Street Tree
Planting in District 8
Miami-Dade County Public Works Department has started planting street trees
along major county roadways. A number of the locations being planted were
damaged in last year’s hurricane season, while a few replacements are
scheduled for areas where trees were lost in auto accidents or to other
causes. “Last year was tough on our street trees,” said Commissioner
Sorenson. “The county has its work cut out for it just trying to replace
the tens of thousands of trees lost countywide in last year’s storms.”
Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma claimed more than 2,200 trees along county
roadways in Commissioner Sorenson's district alone.
