Commissioner Katy Sorenson Provides a Tour of an Energy-Efficient Home in Her District
It was another hot day as Commissioner Katy Sorenson showed some residents in her South Dade District how they can put the sun to work to save money.  The Commissioner, who has funded the installation of 14 solar water heaters in the homes of low-income residents, discussed the benefits at the Leisure City home of one of the recipients yesterday.

Commissioner Katy Sorenson Celebrates the Dedication of the Historic Dice House in Continental Park
On Friday, August 18, 2006 County Commissioner Katy Sorenson and the Miami-Dade Parks joined neighbors from the Continental Park Area in dedicating the historic Dice House. They also celebrated the dedication of a playground in Continental Park and the designation of Schoolhouse Road and Smoak Road.

Commissioner Katy Sorenson Taps into Solar Power for Cleaner, Low-cost Energy
Long before news reports about rising energy costs, Commissioner Katy Sorenson has been working to bring alternative energy solutions to Miami-Dade.  As part of a comprehensive plan to make Miami-Dade the “Solar Capital of the Sunshine State”, Commissioner Sorenson funded the installation of 14 solar water heaters in the homes of low-income residents in her South Dade District.  On Wednesday, August 16, she will showcase one of those homes along 14501 SW 288th Street in Leisure City (just north of Homestead) at 9:30 a.m.

Sorenson Seeks More Transparency In Affordable Housing Funding
Attached is a statement provided by Commissioner Sorenson at the Mayor's news conference on July 24, 2006, at 1:30 PM. The news conference, called by the Mayor, addressed the recent series of articles in the Miami Herald detailing serious issues with the County's subsidized and infill housing programs.
