(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Commissioner Katy Sorenson district funds provided the funding necessary to acquire two all terrain vehicles (ATV) for The South Regional Agricultural Patrol Section. The all terrain vehicle (ATV) is necessary to conduct high-profile patrols of rural and remote areas within the agricultural community. The Ag Patrol Section patrols an area that is approximately 440 square miles and encompasses portions of the Hammocks and Cutler Ridge police districts. The Ag Patrol Section has a staff of 25 sworn and support personnel and provides 24-hour seven day coverage. Ag Patrol Section personnel responds to and investigates agricultural-related crimes at nurseries, farms, groves, and packing houses, and cases involving abuse or neglect of livestock.
