Hundreds of Kids Get Ready for School at Commissioner Lynda Bell’s First Annual “Back-to-School Back-Pack Giveaway”

Commissioner Lynda Bell welcomed hundreds of kids and their families to her district office during her first annual "Back to School Back-Pack Giveaway" on Saturday, August 6, 2011.  In an effort to help working families, in her district, who are struggling during these hard economic times, Commissioner Bell partnered with the Parks Foundation to distribute hundreds of back-to-school back-packs filled with much needed school supplies to children who were selected by the County's Parks and Recreation Department based on economic need.

"I was a great pleasure to host this back-to-school event in order to give financially disadvantaged kids in my district the supplies they need to start the new school year right." - Said Commissioner Bell.   "It is truly gratifying to see the expression on the kids faces as they picked their favorite back-packs and the relief that this brings." "I look forward to hosting more of these "back-to-school" events benefitting needy families in the years ahead."
