Commissioner Lynda Bell presents awards to the recipients of the 2012 Mom & Pop Small Business Grant Program for District 8

County Commissioner Lynda Bell, in cooperation with the Neighbors & Neighbors Association, held a celebratory meeting for the recipients of the 2012 Mom & Pop Small Business Grant program at the South Miami-Dade Government Center recently.  This year, the County was able to provide a grand total of $80,325 to 42 small businesses throughout District 8.  In order to assist as many small businesses as possible, the funds were distributed in $1,000 and $2,000 allotments for home-based businesses and $2,000 and $4,000 allotments for commercial-based enterprises.

“I am delighted that so many small businesses in my district were able to participate in this most worthwhile County-wide program this year,”  said Commissioner Bell.  “As our local economic climate continues to deteriorate, it is most gratifying to know that these much-needed County funds will be put to good use by our small businesses, in order to purchase critical equipment, expand their operations, provide jobs for the members of our community, and in some cases, even keep them from having to close their doors.”
