Commissioner Lynda Bell and the Town of Cutler Bay unveil the "Cutler Bay Local"

An alternative form of transportation service for the residents of Cutler Bay

The Town of Cutler Bay, in collaboration with Commissioner Lynda Bell, and Miami-Dade County, will unveil a new transportation system designed to supplement existing County transportation routes. The “Cutler Bay Local” bus service was created with the Town’s senior resident population in mind, providing them with a much needed connection to existing transit routes. Now, it will be more convenient for all of the Town’s residents to access shopping centers, dining, parks, government buildings, social service offices, and the iconic South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center.

“After some years of working on this project, I am very excited that the Town of Cutler Bay has partnered with Miami-Dade County and Commissioner Lynda Bell so we can provide this exciting service to our senior residents. It is truly, working together for a brighter future,” said Edward “Ed’ MacDougall, Mayor of The Town of Cutler Bay.

“After listening to the needs of our constituents in Cutler Bay, I made it a priority to address the transportation needs of the Town’s residents, particularly the senior population who find themselves limited in their access to local transportation. Now, they have the freedom they need to live more productive and happier lives. I was delighted to work together with Mayor MacDougall and the Town’s Council in bringing this long-awaited project to fruition,” said County Commissioner Lynda Bell.

The official Dedication Ceremony of the “Cutler Bay Local” will take place on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Pinewoods Villa Senior Citizen Community, 8420 S.W. 188th Terrace, Cutler Bay, FL 33157, at 10 a.m.

Following the ceremony, the new bus service will be available to everyone at a cost of $0.25 per trip, but it is free to all senior passengers who have a Golden Passport issued by Miami-Dade Transit. The “Cutler Bay Local” will operate three (3) days a week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:10 p.m.
