Commissioner Lynda Bell and the Town of Cutler Bay dedicate the "Cutler Bay Local"

Today, County Commissioner Lynda Bell and the Town of Cutler Bay dedicated an alternative and more convenient form of transportation for all of the Town's residents to use - "The Cutler Bay Local." Over 150 local residents, County Transit officials, as well as neighboring munic  `ipal leaders from Pinecrest and Palmetto Bay, the "Cutler Bay Local" bus service made its first trip filled to capacity with senior citizens eager to visit every stop on its route.

"The Cutler Bay Local" bus service is a collaboration between Commissioner Lynda Bell, the Town of Cutler Bay, and Miami-Dade Transit to create a supplemental means of transportation with the Town's senior population's needs in mind. These elderly residents are now able to access much-needed transportation that was not available to them before. Now, it will be more convenient for all of the Town's residents to access shopping centers, dining, parks, government buildings, social service offices, the iconic South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, as well as connecting them with existing County routes.

"Today, we fulfill a promise to all of Cutler Bay's residents, but particularly, their elderly transportation by giving them what they have asked for time and time again - a little more freedom and independence to make their lives easier and more enjoyable. It will also serve as a tool to spur much-needed economic development in the area and link shoppers to local businesses. Said Commissioner Bell. I was delighted to work closely with Mayor MacDougall and all the members of the Town Council on this most important project, and look forward to working together in the future as we strive to improve the lives of all of our beloved residents."

The Cutler Bay Local bus service is now available to everyone at a cost of $0.25 per trip, but it is free to all senior passengers who have a Golden Passport issued by Miami-Dade Transit. The "Cutler Bay Local" operates three (3) days a week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:10 p.m.
