Commissioner Levine Cava Sponsors October Military Affairs Committee Meet and Greet

On October 14 Miami-Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava attended the South Dade Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee Meet and Greet. This monthly gathering is an opportunity for civilians and military personnel to network. Commissioner Levine Cava’s office was a sponsor of the October event to showcase the importance of the base and its military men and women to our local community and economy.

“The Homestead Air Reserve Base and our military personnel are a vital part of South Dade,” said Commissioner Levine Cava. “I commend the South Dade Chamber for regularly hosting these events and always advocating for the needs of the base, the military and our veterans.”

Commissioner Levine Cava has been a steadfast proponent of military and veterans’ issues, as well as the operations at Homestead Air Reserve Base (HARB).  In the last year, she has sponsored legislation to bring funding for a Veterans Administration clinic in Homestead, which would provide services for both veterans and military personnel.  She has advocated for better housing and homeowner association policies to make South Dade friendlier to military families.  More recently, Commissioner Levine Cava has lobbied the Pentagon in support of bringing the F-35A program to HARB, and is looking forward to November 5th and 6th when Wings Over Homestead returns to the Homestead Air Reserve Base.

Commissioner Levine Cava said she looks forward to continuing to partner with HARB and the Homestead Military Affairs Committee to bring a better South Dade for our service members to live, work, and play.
