Miami-Dade County promotes simplified water connection fee procedure and installment plans to help new and growing small business

MIAMI-DADE – The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) today announced the implementation of a procedure to assist new and expanding businesses with simplified water connection fees.

Through a resolution sponsored by County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, the County is proactively informing property and business owners that they now have the opportunity to pay water connection charges as installments for up to a year instead of all at the time of connection.

“It is critical to encourage new business development, and especially to support our small businesses, by making it easy and affordable to do business in Miami-Dade County,” said Commissioner Levine Cava. “As we upgrade our infrastructure, it is equally important that we improve our processes and inform business owners of the benefits of doing business here.”

The marketing work and streamlined payment installment process are part of an effort to stimulate economic growth and to remove barriers that might inhibit small business development. Other programs supporting small businesses include the District 8 Small Business Academy, a small business incubator known as Accelerate South Dade, and the Mom & Pop grants.
