Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss meets and greets Ambassador & Deputy Assistant Secretary for Africa during the 12th Annual AfrICANDO Conference


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- On Friday, September 18, 2009, during an afternoon luncheon, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss was invited to extend greetings to a group of conference attendees during the opening day of the 2009 AfrICANDO Conference and Symposium. As a part of Chairman Moss’ greetings, he graciously welcomed and presented a Key-to-the-County to Ambassador Vicki Huddleston. Ambassador Huddleston is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Africa in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Ambassador Huddleston also served as Keynote Speaker earlier during the morning conference line up.

They came from near and far to attend AfrICANDO’s 12th Annual Trade and Investment Conference at the Miami Beach Resort. Individuals and guests from such institutions as Miami Dade College, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Florida International University, The Beacon Council, Enterprise Florida and several other agencies were in attendance.

Chairman Moss expressed, “The AfrICANDO conference and symposium is a great opportunity for individual businesses and organizations to come together to have dialogue and begin to develop unique strategies to increase bilateral trade programs between the United States and Africa.”

The AfrICANDO Trade and Investment Symposium is The Foundation for Democracy in Africa’s annual meeting which supports the objectives of the U.S. African Trade and Investment Act of 2000. The Foundation for Democracy in Africa (FDA) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental development organization, founded in 1994 to promote and establish enduring democracy, sustainable development and economic growth and plurality throughout Africa.
