County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss sponsors resolution co-designating SW 180th Street as Serena Lakes Boulevard in South Miami-Dade

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
On Tuesday, October 20, 2009, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss sponsored a resolution co-designating SW 180th Street at the intersection of SW 137th Avenue in South Miami-Dade as Serena Lakes Boulevard. The resolution comes as a result of requests from residents and the Board of Directors of Weitzer Serena Lakes Homeowners Association.

After concerns and complaints of the original sign in the median at SW 180th Street and SW 137th Avenue, and the ongoing problems with visitors constantly passing by the entrance, local residents and citizens felt the need to have some kind of community street. After careful consideration, it was determined that it would be more practical and beneficial to motorists and pedestrians to have the sign elevated and placed near the traffic lights for better visibility and traffic appearance. Many felt the community would be grateful and better served if the county could co-designate SW 180th Street from SW 137th Avenue to SW 147th Avenue. The sign would read: SW 180th STREET / SERENA LAKES BLVD.

Chairman Moss stated, "I'm sure the community welcomes this change. Not only will it help visitors, local drivers and pedestrians in the area, I feel it would also be more appealing to the eye." The sign will be erected at a Street Designation Ceremony in the weeks to come. The community and residents will be given prior notice of the date, time and location of this event.
