(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- On December 16, 2009, during the late morning, Miami-Dade County Chairman Dennis C. Moss along with Commissioner Katy Sorenson, County Manager George Burgess, County Library System Director Raymond Santiago and a host of welcomed and invited guests made their way to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly designed, state-of-the-art Naranja Branch Library located at 14850 SW 280th Street in Naranja in South Miami-Dade.
The 15,000 square-foot library was designed around a palette of soft, muted tones, beautifully colored terrazzo floors and dozens of windows welcoming an array of natural sun light. The facility houses spacious divided areas for young adults to enjoy and a children's area with movable shelving for optional reconfiguration. The facility also boasts 32 computer terminals and 20 laptops with free internet access available for Wi-Fi technology. Patrons will have access to a collection of more than 37,000 new books, DVDs, CDs, audio books and other materials including several express self-check-out machines.
According to County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss, "Today is a good day…", he stated during the ceremony. "This project is one that we are very proud of and one we promised to this community and today we delivered on that promise." The Naranja Branch Library's hours of operation are Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm and Wednesdays & Thursdays from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.
