(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- District 9 Commissioner Dennis C. Moss participated in the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami groundbreaking on Habitat Landings (formerly known as Caribbean Palms), on December 1, 2012.
"There is no better feeling than serving our community. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, many residents from district 9 will be able to enjoy affordable housing," said Commissioner Moss. "Knowing that this project will change the lives of many families makes this effort a worthy one."
Habitat for Humanity will feature 45 single family homes in the Habitat Landing area and a daycare center. The homes will be completed in three phases of 15 homes starting with the BLITZ BUILD in February 2013, where more than 1,500 volunteers will take part in completing 15 homes in two weeks.
All families for the first 15 homes have been selected and 13 out of those 15 homeowners are residents of District 9. Each family will be taking part in helping with the construction of their own home.
