Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dennis C. Moss has sponsored a resolution that co-designates the portion of SW 137 Avenue between U.S. 1 and Alex Muxo Boulevard as "Ralph Sanchez Speedway Boulevard." With this Resolution, Commissioner Moss is also urging the City of Homestead to join in on the co-designation.
This resolution is also being co-sponsored by Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa, Vice Chair Lynda Bell and Senator Javier D. Souto.
Mr. Ralph Sanchez, who recently passed away, is known County-wide for his contribution to the local economy by bringing NASCAR and Grand Prix races to Miami-Dade County. Mr. Sanchez was the founder of the Homestead-Miami Speedway and contributed to Miami-Dade's economy by popularizing and bringing motor sports to the County. He is credited with establishing this area as one of the premier destinations in auto racing.
The co-designation of the avenue will honor Mr. Ralph Sanchez, in memoriam, for his invaluable contribution to the Miami-Dade County economic development.
