Hello and welcome to the web site for County Commission District 9, the largest geographic district in Miami-Dade County. Since 1993, I have proudly represented the residents of this area, which includes portions of Miami-Dade County as far south as the Monroe County line. Since I was first elected, I have had the opportunity to serve my community and help pass legislation that makes a difference in our neighborhoods, as you can see in my News Releases, Legislation Sponsored and Photo Gallery web pages.
One of the initiatives I am most proud of is The Moss Plan an economic and community revitalization plan for South Miami-Dade that I developed with the community’s input after the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1993.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designated $73 million for the Moss Plan, which includes business expansion and development, street paving and road improvements, affordable housing, community centers/recreation facilities, community gateway signs, redevelopment and expansion of parks, beautification projects, crime prevention, and homebuyer's counseling. The effects of The Moss Plan are still being felt today as new improvement projects continue to be initiated each year.
In addition, I have always sought to keep open lines of communication between me and my constituents. To better serve my constituents, I have opened a second district office in the Florida City/Homestead area, located at 1634 N.W. Sixth Avenue in Florida City. To contact me or my staff, please see the contact information listed under District Offices. I would also like to invite you, if you have the chance, to attend one of my Citizen’s Forums, which are held on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at my district office in the South Dade Government Center, 10710 S.W. 211 Street, Suite 206. The Citizen’s Forums are opportunities for residents to voice their concerns or appreciation, ask questions or just learn more about what is going on in their community.
I hope you enjoy your visit to the District 9 web site and that you continue to use it as a valuable resource to stay connected with your County government.
Best regards,
Dennis C. Moss
