On Sunday, March 20, 2011, Commissioner Javier D. Souto will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ronald Reagan Monument to be built at Tropical Park, during the 4th Annual Miami International Agriculture & Cattle Show. The event will be held at 10 a.m. on the left side of the park's entrance.
Upon its completion, the life-size monument will feature President Reagan on horseback to commemorate his love of horses. On July 13, 2004, the Board of County Commissioners also renamed the Tropical Park Equestrian Center as the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center in honor of our 40th president.
"The cattle show is the perfect venue for this groundbreaking as we celebrate South Florida's vast agricultural industry," said Commissioner Souto.
Miami-Dade County's annual "Miami International Agriculture & Cattle Show" (MIACS) is back for its fourth year at Tropical Park from March 18-20, 2011. Residents young and old are invited to attend this three-day event, which attracts visitors from 22 countries and had over 50,000 patrons last year. The 2011 MIACS will be held at the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center inside Tropical Park; admission and parking are free.
The MIACS is a mix of a cattle auction, equestrian and cattle shows, and musical entertainment. Although only in its fourth year, the MIACS has received international recognition in the Brahman cattle circuit and is one of only a handful of shows in Florida officially sanctioned by the American Brahman Breeders Association as a point show.
