New public art installation at Kendall Soccer Park
With the assistance of Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier D. Souto, funding was generated for a new Public Art Sculpture to be installed at the Kendall Soccer park. Through the Art in Public Places (APP) program, the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department along with the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs will come together on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 4:00 PM to celebrate the installation of a 30 feet sculpture created by Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova at the Kendall Soccer Park, 8011 SW 127th Avenue Miami, Florida.
Commissioner Javier D. Souto sponsors a resolution to designate "Senior Zones" in County parks
Due to the large population of elderly residents in Miami-Dade County, District 10 Commissioner Javier D. Souto has sponsored a resolution asking Mayor Carlos Gimenez to report on the possibility of designating areas at County Parks as “Senior Zones” by installing outdoor exercise equipment tailored for the more mature citizens of the county.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier D. Souto sponsored a resolution that established the Dr. Antonio Jorge award at the April 16, 2013 BCC meeting at the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st street, Miami. This award is meant to recognize Miami-Dade residents who have positively contributed to the local economy.
The Miami International Agriculture, Cattle & Horse show returns to Tropical Park on April 12-14
The 6th Annual Agriculture, Cattle & Horse (MIACHS) show will return on April 12 through the 14 as Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier D. Souto hosts this popular event at Tropical Park Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center, 7900 SW 40th Street. The event, which attracts more than 60,000 visitors a year from over 24 countries, features a cattle auction, equestrian shows, and local agriculture vendors.
