(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Residents now have a shady spot to enjoy at Ruben Dario Park, 9825 West Flagler Street, with brand new pavilion facilities thanks to Commissioner Javier D. Souto and the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department (MDPR). Commissioner Souto earmarked funding for this project from the Safe Neighborhood Park and Building Better Communities Bonds to further enhance the park for residents in his district and around Miami-Dade County.
The 15-acre park has added a 30 x 30' covered shelter, a barbeque grill, picnic tables, and a walkway that connects to its community center and tennis courts. Other amenities at this park include baseball and soccer fields, and courts for playing basketball, handball or racquet ball.
"The pavilion will serve as a recreation and community focal point for this active neighborhood park, as well as a nice spot to get out of the rain or heat," said Commissioner Souto. "The large numbers of residents and visitors who frequent this facility for outdoor sports activities and park programs can now host community meetings and picnics here."
For further information about facility reservations, activities and programs offered at Ruben Dario Park, including MDPR's 'Fit to Play, Green It Up' Summer Camp, the public can call 305-222-2194. On-line reservations are also now available through the MDPR web site: www.miamidade.gov/parks.
