Commissioner Souto will host the Argentine Ambassador, Miguel Talento, for the street co-designation of "Republica Argentina Avenue" at Graziano's restaurant on Wednesday, August 28th
MIAMI, FL – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier D. Souto sponsored a resolution that co-designated the portion of SW 92 Avenue between SW 40th Street and SW 24th Street as “República Argentina Avenue”. The co-designation will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Graziano’s Restaurant, 9227 SW 40th Street starting at 12:00 PM.
For this ceremony Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa and the Consul General of Argentina, Ambassador Miguel Talento, will be saying a few words. There will also be the singing of the Star Spangled banner and the Argentine National Anthem.
On November 6, 2001, the Board of County Commissioners established a Sister City Program between Miami-Dade County and the Province of Mendoza, Argentina. And on July 19, 2011, through Resolution R-623-11, the Board urged the federal government to extend visa waiver status to Argentina, Brazil, and Chile and also urged Congress to pass the Secure Travel & Counterterrorism Partnership Program Act of 2011 or similar legislation.
