Commissioner Souto attends State of the Ports briefing

MIAMI, FL – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier Souto, who serves as Vice Chair of the Economic Development and PortMiami Committee, attended the County’s annual State of the Ports briefing on Feb. 12.

The County’s airport and seaport directors gave status reports and discussed plans and goals for Miami International Airport and PortMiami. Aviation Director Emilio Gonzalez reported that a record 144,000 passengers traveled through MIA on Jan. 6, and several new airlines will be providing direct service to various locations around the world. PortMiami Director Bill Johnson announced that the under-construction PortMiami Tunnel is scheduled to open for service on May 19.
