St. Vincent De Paul Food Distribution on Oct. 25
Juan C. Zapata and St. Vincent De Paul in partnership with Tyson Foods, Inc., Feeding South Florida and Mother of Christ Church will be giving away meals for residents of District 11. Items we will distribute include chicken, food bags and more. Saturday, Oct. 25 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Tamiami Park 11201 SW 24 Street.

Sister City Initiative
In an effort to improve trade, commercial, and cultural relations between Florida and China, Commissioner Zapata is currently working on an initiative to establish sister city partnership between Miami-Dade County and Guangzhou (Canton) City, China.
Your money at work
Sidewalk Improvement Project: SW 152nd Avenue from SW 81st Lane to SW 72nd Street
This project consists of, but is not limited to, removal and replacement of damaged existing concrete sidewalk, construction of new concrete sidewalk, modification of existing or construction of new pedestrian access ramps to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, construction of curb and gutter, construction of connectors and landings at bus stops, and modification/restoration of driveways.
Construction Schedule: Construction is scheduled to begin on June 25, 2013 and anticipated to be completed in July 2013 (weather permitting).
Total Cost: $16,112.80
