Commissioner Zapata to host tree planting in observance of Mother’s Day


MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Juan C. Zapata will host a “Roots of My Tree” tree planting and dedication in observance of Mother’s Day and in remembrance of loved ones on Saturday, May 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Wild Lime Park, 14751 Hammocks Blvd.

Commissioner Zapata will team up with County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Director Jack Kardys and volunteers to celebrate the planting of 25 new shady oaks and lysolomas.

The tree planting is part of the Million TREES Miami Campaign, a community-wide effort to plant 1 million trees by 2020 in order to achieve a 30 percent tree canopy cover for Miami-Dade County.
