Annual Health & Safety Expo

Approximately 1,000 people attended Chairman Joe A. Martinez's 7th Annual Health and Safety Expo. South Florida residents and families received free health check-ups for glucose, high blood pressure, HIV, hemoglobin, cholesterol, and much more.

Residents and their furry pals joined Chairman Joe A. Martinez and the Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department for the grand opening of the new Dog Park at West Kendall District Park, 11255 SW 157 Avenue, Miami.

Mom & Pop application process closed

The application  process for the District 11 Mom & Pop Small Business Grant Program is now complete. For those who have completed applications, please be sure to turn them in to the commissioner's office between February 2 to February 9, 2012 by 5 p.m. Call 305-552-1155 for more information.

"Jason Taylor Day" declared in Miami-Dade County

Retired Miami Dolphins player Jason Taylor received resounding applause in Miami-Dade Commission Chambers as he was honored by County officials for his 15-year football career and service to the community. Chairman Martinez presented Taylor a proclamation declaring January 24th “Jason Taylor Day” in Miami-Dade County.

Save money on your prescriptions with new discount card

In a joint effort between Miami-Dade and the National Association of Counties (NACo), Miami-Dade County has launched a new prescription discount card program to help residents save money on their medications. The free Miami-Dade County Prescription Discount Card can save you an average of 24% on prescriptions at participating pharmacies. There's no enrollment, no fee, and it's available at numerous County facilities near you. For more information, visit the program website or call 1-877-321-2652.

Chairman Martinez introduces new County Career Center

Miami-Dade has launched a conveniently accessible online career center, a brainchild of Chairman Joe A. Martinez.  Miami-Dade residents can now easily search for jobs from a one-stop cyber portal - jobs.miamidade.gov.

Miami-Dade Blue provides a lifeline to affordable medical care

Under the leadership of Chairman Martinez and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, residents are taking advantage of Miami-Dade BlueSM – a unique health insurance plan for Miami-Dade’s uninsured population. If you are under the age of 65, and don't qualify for government health assistance, but struggle with the high cost of insurance, Miami-Dade Blue may be for you.
