(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- One thousand Miami-Dade residents attended the latest foreclosure prevention seminar hosted by Commissioner Joe A. Martinez, on March 8 at Ministerio International El Rey Jesus. The event – co-sponsored by Pastor Guillermo Maldonado and the Hispanic Coalition Hispanic Trust Initiative – was the fourth of the free seminars Commissioner Martinez has held to inform homeowners about alternatives to foreclosure and on ways to address financial problems.
“It is sad that so many people are facing the devastating loss of their homes,” said Commissioner Martinez. “But I am glad so many have been coming to take advantage of the vital assistance being offered at the seminars. They are a small step in decreasing the number of mortgage foreclosures in the county and helping people keep their homes.”
Attendees received free assistance from various financial counselors, including Freddie Mac, one of the country’s biggest buyers of home mortgages, and the Chase Homeownership Preservation Program. The seminars have been offered in both English and Spanish, ensuring that a larger segment of the population acquires the information that may otherwise be difficult to attain due to language barriers.
For more information on the seminar, please contact Commissioner Martinez’s district office at (305) 552-1155.
