Commissioner Joe A. Martinez congratulates the District 11's top fifth graders with the "Turn Around Awards"

MIAMI, FL – District 11 students received a pat on the back from Miami-Dade County Commissioner Joe A. Martinez for improving their academic standing during the presentation of the "Turn Around Awards" in their respective rankings. Each year, Commissioner Martinez rewards a fifth grader from each school in the Miami-Dade County Public School System and charter elementary schools who have demonstrated in their district an extraordinary improvement in their academic level, behavior or social service. Each winner received a certificate of appreciation and an RCA Voyager tablet'.

This year’s winners were:

"The best way to make students succeed in school is through positive reinforcement," said Commissioner Martinez. "I am proud of the students who have recognized the importance of improving in their studies and who have worked hard throughout the school year to improve their classes in general."
