Welcome to District 12
District 12 encompasses an area of western Miami-Dade County between SW 8th Street and NW 202nd Street, west of Hialeah. It includes the City of Doral, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Sweetwater, and Virginia Gardens, as well as a large part of unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
Voters in District 12 first elected José "Pepe" Diaz to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in September 2002. Commissioner Diaz was reelected without opposition in September 2006.

Yesterday morning 1,000 drivers traveling eastbound and westbound on SR 836 at the 97th Avenue toll plaza received a pleasant surprise, when they received a free SunPass Mini transponder from Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) Executive Director Javier Rodriguez.
Candidates running for public office will now have to account for campaign workers who handle absentee ballots
At today's Board of County Commission meeting, Miami-Dade County Commissioners passed an ordinance sponsored by Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz that requires candidates running for a County or Municipal office to identify paid campaign workers, who take part in absentee ballot activities.
Ordinance granting additional homestead exemption for seniors will receive final vote tomorrow
Low-income senior citizens who are long-term residents of Miami-Dade County may have the opportunity to receive additional property tax relief.

Report wage theft
The Wage Theft Ordinance, which is governed by Chapter 22 of the Code of Miami-Dade County and became effective on February 28, 2010, applies to private sector employees and employers. Employees who have not been paid in full or at all for completed work may report their employers to the County's Small Business Development Department by filling out one of the forms below. For more information about the Wage Theft Ordinance or assistance completing and sending the forms, call SBD at 305-375-3146.
