District 12 encompasses an area of western Miami-Dade County between SW 8th Street and NW 202nd Street, west of Hialeah. It includes the City of Doral, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Sweetwater, and Virginia Gardens, as well as a large part of unincorporated Miami-Dade County. test
Voters in District 12 first elected José "Pepe" Diaz to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in September 2002. Commissioner Diaz was reelected in August 2014.

SR 826/Palmetto Expressway will add tolled express lanes
The Palmetto Express project by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six will add tolled express lanes along the SR 826/Palmetto Expressway from W. Flagler St. to NW 154 St. and along I-75 from the Palmetto Expressway to NW 170 St. in Miami-Dade County. The project will provide continuity to the upcoming I-75 express lanes being developed by FDOT District Four, from NW 170 St. in Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County. Report wage theft
The Wage Theft Ordinance, which is governed by Chapter 22 of the Code of Miami-Dade County and became effective on February 28, 2010, applies to private sector employees and employers. Employees who have not been paid in full or at all for completed work may report their employers to the County's Small Business Development Department by filling out one of the forms below. For more information about the Wage Theft Ordinance or assistance completing and sending the forms, call SBD at 305-375-3146.
