(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Put away your jackets and get ready for fun because District 12's Spring Festival is here! Residents are invited to attend the commissioner's annual Spring Festival on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at North Trail Park, 780 NW 127 Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Families can enjoy free food, games, bounce houses, live entertainment, water slides, and lots of surprises, including special guests. There will be plenty of activities for kids. Commissioner Diaz's office will be providing bags so that children can take part in the Easter Egg Hunt starting at 12:45 p.m. There will also be fun activities provided by the Miami Children's Museum, as well as face painting and balloons. Residents can also participate in a raffle to win one of 20 bicycles and one free trip to Walt Disney World. A special appearance will be made by the Florida Marlins Mermaids and the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, and the Miami HEAT Dancers will perform.
In addition, personnel from over half a dozen Miami-Dade County departments will be on hand to assist residents with services, including Commissioner Diaz's Mobile Office and the Miami-Dade Corrections Unit, which will be offering free DNA swabs to residents.
Other local organizations will have booths at the festival to give residents information and goodies, like local military branches, Miami Children's Hospital, BattleField Live, Roxy Theatre Group, Anta's Fitness & Self Defense, Miami-Dade Police Explorers, Citizens Crime Watch & McGruff, Miami Jazzercise, and Miami-Dade Expressway Authority.
The Annual Spring Festival is made possible through the sponsorships of AMB Property Corporation, Fuentes Consulting Group/National Health Transport Inc., Flagler Development, Florida Power & Light, and Waste Management. Goods and services for the event will be donated by Comcast, Pepsi, Pop Chips, Merenguitos, Valentini Ice Creams, and Crystal Springs Water.
