(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Baseball and motorcycle enthusiasts can both enjoy a unique day of fun - and all for a great cause. Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz is sponsoring the 4th Annual Kids & Families Bike Run on Saturday, September 3, 2011. Participants will join a police-escorted bike run to Sun Life Stadium, where they will later be able to watch an upcoming Florida Marlins game. Proceeds benefit the Kids & Families Foundation, which helps local children undergoing treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses.
The event kicks off at 2 p.m. at Peterson's Harley Davidson South, 19825 S. Dixie Highway. Bikers will travel over 30 miles in the police-escorted ride to Sun Life Stadium, 2269 Dan Marino Boulevard, where they will enjoy a fun-filled party featuring food vendors, drinks, a car show, bike contest and a pre-game tailgate party, featuring a performance by The Dirty Pearls. An exciting match-up between the Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies will follow, including a post-game concert.
Tickets start at just $20 for outfield terrace seats, and $30 for field box. All tickets include the ride, pre-game party, the Marlins vs. Phillies match-up, and the concert, as well as a donation to the Kids & Families Foundation.
"The Kids & Families Foundation is an organization that has helped so many children while they fight serious illnesses by making their treatment a little easier with toy drives, care packages, and scholarships," said Commissioner Diaz. "Every year, we get a great crowd riding through Miami-Dade to help these kids and we want this year to be bigger and better."
