Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz kicks off his Valentine’s Day initiative “14 Days of Neighborly Love”

Residents can receive discounted and free goods and services from businesses and organizations


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz is ensuring residents feel a little appreciation and goodwill beyond February 14. The commissioner has once again teamed up with several mayors from his district, businesses and organizations to bring “14 Days of Neighborly Love – Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness.” This initiative involves businesses and organizations donating their time, services and monetary contributions from February 14 to February 27 to residents as a way of showing love for their neighbors and community. Participating businesses may provide special discounts during the 14 days, or randomly give goods and services to clients for free.

Commissioner Diaz will be hosting a press conference on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Finish Line gas station in Sweetwater, 10900 West Flagler Street, at 11 a.m. to discuss the initiative. He will be joined by:

• Finish Line, owner Anthony Cuevas and Alex Varas from BV Oil Company, Roly Ramirez from Doral Collision Center, and Exclusive Motoring, who will be providing a discounted gas price for a limited time.

• Florida Power & Light Company‘s Armando Fernandez will announce the donation of $14,000 to 14 Title 1 schools within Commissioner Diaz’s district during the initiative.  FPL cupids will present hundreds of pens, pencils, book bags and other school supplies, valued at more than $1,000, to the principal of a local school in District 12.

• Representatives from Blue Bell Ice Cream will be present to kick off this initiative as they announce their random acts of kindness to the community.

• Commissioner Diaz and the municipal mayors in his district will be pumping gas for customers during this event and giving out treats.
