A hundred Sweetwater elementary school students and their families will enjoy a delicious turkey dinner this Thanksgiving courtesy of the Miami Dolphins Foundation and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz.
Commissioner Diaz is teaming up with representatives of the team on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 9:45 a.m. to distribute free turkeys at Sweetwater Elementary School, 10655 SW 4th St.
“It is an honor and a privilege to continue the Miami Dolphins tradition of giving back to our neighbors during the holiday season,” said Miami Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel. “Every family deserves a warm Thanksgiving meal, and we are grateful to [Dolphins owner] Stephen Ross for giving us the opportunity to help put food on the table for more than 15,000 needy South Floridians this Thanksgiving.”
Commissioner Diaz will join Dolphins alumni, employees and volunteers in distributing the 100 turkeys to students and their parents.
“I am glad to team up with the Miami Dolphins to ensure families in my community have a great Thanksgiving,” said Commissioner Diaz. “I think it’s important to give back to our community, and I thank the Miami Dolphins for always doing their part.”
The school has pre-selected the students who will receive the turkeys.
