"14 Days of Neighborly Love" to bring goodwill to residents in the spirit of Valentine's

SunPass mini-transponders to be given away on S.R. 836 on Feb. 18

(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY) – As part of his annual Valentine’s tradition of bringing neighborly love to District 12 residents, Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz is teaming up with local businesses and organizations that will be donating their time and services for the two weeks following Valentine’s Day.

The third annual "14 Days of Neighborly Love – Inspiring Random Acts of Kindness,” which is kicking off on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Rickenbacker Causeway toll plaza with the distribution of free safety bicycle lights and discount cards from Mack Cycle & Fitness, continues on Tuesday, Feb. 18 starting at 7:00 a.m. with the giveaway of 1,000 SunPass mini-transponders to the first 1,000 motorists who pass through the 97th Avenue toll plaza on State Road 836. Of the 1,000 free transponders, 500 will include a voucher for $10 worth of credits. Commissioner Diaz will join MDX Executive Director Javier Rodriguez in handing out the transponders.

Other events during the 14-day campaign will include a food giveaway at Centro A.F.E., a free movie night at North Trail Park, teaming up with Rebuilding Together Miami to assist veterans and a donation of goods to a local women’s shelter.

“In this time of the year when we celebrate love, I’m pleased to again be able to bring this initiative to District 12 residents, and I thank all the businesses who have agreed to participate in random acts of kindness that will inspire more of us to be better neighbors to one another,” Commissioner Diaz said.
