Free screening of Golden Veterans documentary

(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY)  – The Miami-Dade Military Affairs Board and the City of North Miami Beach will host a Military Appreciation Day celebration featuring a free screening of the documentary “Miami-Dade Golden Veterans: 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War” and a ceremony honoring local veterans on Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. at Littman Theater, 17011 NE 19th Ave. in North Miami Beach.

The documentary includes interviews with local Vietnam veterans, who share their memories of the unfair treatment they received when they returned home and their thoughts about Miami-Dade’s historic Nov. 8, 2013 parade through downtown Miami to give them the long-overdue proper homecoming they deserved.

“I invite the community to hear the personal stories of the veterans we honored in last year’s historic Golden Veterans parade by coming to this special screening and ceremony,” said Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Chairman of the Miami-Dade Military Affairs Board.
